Registration Now Open for Next WAZIP Ride & Drive

Registration is now open for the Washington Zero-Emission Incentive Program (WAZIP) Ride & Drive on Monday, September 21 at Pacific Raceways.

Whether you’re exploring zero-emission vehicles for the first time or planning to expand your fleet, the WAZIP Ride & Drive gives you the opportunity to experience eligible vehicles firsthand and get answers from experts who understand the transition process.

At the event, you’ll be able to:

Additional WAZIP Resources: Interactive Catalog & MHD Accelerator

As you prepare for the next Ride & Drive, we wanted to highlight a couple more WAZIP resources to help you and your business make the transition to a zero-emission fleet.

First up, there’s a new interactive WAZIP Eligible Vehicles & Equipment Catalog. The interactive catalog gives fleets and businesses a simple way to browse approved zero-emission commercial vehicles and equipment; compare available incentive amounts; and filter by category, manufacturer, vehicle class, vehicle type, and technology to find the right fit.

Next up, enrollment is still open for the fall 2026 Medium- & Heavy-Duty (MHD) Fleet Electrification Accelerator. This three month program is for MHD fleet operators in Washington.

Graduates leave the program with a real, actionable electrification plan, tailored to their vehicles, routes, and operational needs. Crucially, they’ll also have a strategy for securing WAZIP incentives before they’re gone!

States Get Serious About Clean Energy Permitting

States across the country are recognizing that if we want more clean energy, we have to make it easier to build.

Canary Media recently highlighted new findings showing that more state legislatures are passing laws to streamline renewable development than are enacting policies to prevent clean energy from being built.

Of the 86 bills introduced this year that would have made it harder to site and permit solar, wind, and battery projects, just one became law. States like Oregon, Virginia, and Illinois are instead advancing permitting reforms.

Washington has the opportunity to build more clean energy, but we need permitting, siting, and interconnection processes that can keep pace. If you missed it, check out our newsletter from last week on what Washington’s climate movement can learn from housing.
