Last week, Clean & Prosperous Institute (CPI) joined hundreds of transportation decarbonization leaders from across business, government, and community organizations at the annual Green Transportation Summit and Expo (GTSE). GTSE was a great reminder that Washington state is an international leader in innovative and effective ways to reduce transportation emissions – while growing our economy and creating jobs.
Our Executive Director Michael Mann was proud to join the panel “Getting Ready for WAZIP: What MHD Fleets Need to Know About Washington’s Upcoming Incentives” alongside representatives from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), CALSTART, Breaking Barriers Collaborative, and Energy Infrastructure Partners. WAZIP – or the Washington Zero-Emission Incentive Program – is a crucial element of our work to decarbonize transportation and improve air quality across Washington.

As we “countdown to zero,” we encourage anyone interested in WAZIP to sign up for updates via this website: https://calstart.org/wazip/. If you’re an Original Equipment Manufacturer or dealership interested in learning more about how you might participate in this program, please reach out to CPI’s WAZIP Program Manager Ian Sergeant at ian@cleanprosperousinstitute.org.
Alongside the panels, CPI had a great time touring the Expo Hall and participating in the Ride and Drive to see all the amazing progress companies are making on zero-emission vehicles in Washington state. From semi trucks, to motorcycles, to school buses, to street sweepers, the future of zero-emission transportation was on display at GTSE!

More businesses are adopting zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, which are cleaner, quieter, and offer significant fuel savings. PepsiCo recently announced it has added 50 class 8 semi trucks to its fleet, which also includes more than 500 electric vans.
First-of-its-Kind ZEV Dealership Opens in Fife, WA
Last week, the CPI team was thrilled to stop by the grand opening of the new Range Zero Emissions HQ in Fife, Washington! This site, which offers zero-emission vehicles to meet the needs of fleet operators of various sizes and use cases, is the first of its kind in Washington state.

Facilities like Range’s are crucial for increasing the availability and uptake of zero-emission vehicles in the Pacific Northwest. Congratulations to Range Zero Emissions on this exciting milestone!
